As we head towards the final push to raise money for our Pennies for our Heroes appeal to honour our World War One heroes, old photographs of events during the conflict have come to light.

This postcard was submitted by reader Brian Cripley. It shows a parade on Ripley Market Place in 1915, held to raise money for the town to sponsor a Sopwith Camel
aircraft.

You can still donate your pennies at Amber Valley Borough Council, Market Place, Ripley, at the Market Place Cafe, Ripley, at our offices at 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston, DE7 8ER, or at the Ripley branch of the Royal British Legion.
