A petition to save Heanor Hospital is being launched by amber Valley MP Nigel Mills.

Mr Mills is urging constituents to sign either an online petition, or one being delivered to households in the Heanor area, which calls on Parliament ‘to urge the Government to take all possible steps to ensure the hospital remains open and that health provision in Heanor is enhanced, not diminished’.

Mr Mills said: “The last thing we want is a temporary closure to result in a permanent one – NHS services in Heanor should be protected because sick and vulnerable people should have access to local health services.

“We’ve been busy delivering paper petitions through people’s letterboxes in Heanor, and I urge all constituents who have received one to fill it in and return it.

“Constituents can also sign the petition online at www.nigelmillsmp.com/heanorhospital.”

A public meeting will take place on Thursday, January 30, between 7.30 PM and 9 PM at the Ian Cox room of Heanor Town Hall.
