630 women took part in the fifth Moonlight Walk last weekend, raising much needed cash for a charity which supports families through death and grief.

In total the walkers have raised over £63,000 in sponsorship, which will go towards helping Treetops Hospice provide end of life care and bereavement support for families across Derbyshire and
Nottinghamshire.

The 10km sponsored walk started at 10pm at The University of Derby on Kedleston Road and took in parts of the city centre, over St Alkmund’s Way footbridge before looping North through Five Lamps, The Broadway and Allestree.

16 teaching assistants from Heanor Gate Science College took part on the walk, Amanda McLeod said:

“It was a really good evening, we all thoroughly enjoyed it, even if we were all a bit tired the next day!”
