Man sustains ‘serious injuries’ in Alfreton assault

A man remains in a critical condition after he was assaulted outside an Alfreton Job Centre yesterday.

Police were called to the Job Centre, King Street, at around 10am yesterday, Thursday, January 31, following reports of an altercation.

A 39-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the incident and was taken by paramedics to Kingsmill Hospital.

He was later transferred to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains in a critical condition.

A 24-year-old man, who is known to the victim, has been arrested in connection with the assault and is currently in police custody.
