A lorry driver had a rude awakening when he was parked up asleep in Somercotes and a car drove into the back of his vehicle.

The blue Vauxhall estate burst into flames and its driver suffered a head injury after the collision on Clover Nook Road at midnight on Monday.

His injuries were not though to be threatening and he was taken to hospital. Firefighters from Alfreton made the scene safe.
