The company that operates Alfreton, Ripley and William Gregg VC Leisure Centres is changing its name after it was taken over by a housing provider.
DC Leisure Management Ltd, which took over the centres on behalf of Amber Valley Borough Council in 2008, has announced a change of name to that of its new owner - ‘Places for People Limited’.
DC Leisure Management Ltd managed about 100 leisure facilities on behalf of 28 local authorities. Places for People Limited was founded in 1965 and is now one of the largest property management, development and regeneration companies in the UK, owning or managing 143,000 homes with assets in excess of £3 billion.
Contract manager Jackie Goacher said: “It’s an exciting time for the leisure centres and our customers. Our staff will be wearing new uniforms and customers will notice new logos on leaflets and posters around the centre, but ultimately we will still deliver the same level of excellent service and varied programme of exercise classes. We will continue to be a community-minded facility bursting with passion and enthusiasm to get local people more physically active.”
Alfreton, Ripley and Heanor leisure centres all offer weekly classes and activities as well as a variety of sports clubs and swimming sessions.
