Jade murder case - trial date August

A date has been set for the trial of a 22-year-old man, charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend Jade Riley-Ward.

Cornelius Brown, 22, of Greenhill Lane, Riddings, will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on August 12.

He is accused of murdering the 30-year-old.

The body of Miss Riley-Ward was found by emergency services in a house on Burke Drive, Somercotes, on Saturday September 22 last year.

Proceedings were delayed after Mr Brown dispensed with the services of his solicitors, a court in Nottingham heard last Friday.

A post-mortem examination revealed Miss Riley-Ward had died of multiple stab wounds.
