Ripley Town FC blew away high flying Derby Singh Brothers in the Midlands Regional Alliance Division One on Saturday to win 4-0.

The game at the Nottingham Road Ground saw Riple turn in a sensational second half performance to claim the victory.

In the absence of keeper Ryan Steeples, Ian Randall was in Town’s goal.

Ripley went ahead as early as the fifth minute when a powerful drive from Jimmy Hassell was brilliantly saved by the Derby Singh Brothers keeper.

The first half, however, was dominated by the visitors, but with Paul Hodgson making his Ripley debut at centre half along side the impressive pairing of Oli Pochciol and Matt Crews, the home side’s defence held firm.

The second half saw Ripley turn on the style and the goals flowed.

Liam Brown opened the scoring on the hour mark with a close-range header before Jimmy Hassell rounded the keeper to make it 2-0.

Brown then got his second for 3-0 with a close-range effort and Hassell added a fourth as Ripley ran riot with some quality football.

This win puts Ripley up to fourth in the league.

Ripley Town will next be in action this Saturday (October 13) when they are at home to Wirksworth Town (3pm kick off).

Other results in the MRA on Saturday included Allestree losing 8-0 to Allenton United in the Premier Division, Newhall United beating Chellaston 3-1, and a fine win 4-1 for Swanwick Pentrich Road against Cromford.

In the same league, Matlock Sports lost 2-1 to Derby Rolls-Royce Leisure and Melbourne got the better of Newmount 5-4.

In Division One, Swanwick Pentrich Road Reserves lost 4-2 to Rowsley 86 Reserves and Stanton Ilkeston lost 12-0 to Woolley Moor United.

In Division Two, Little Eaton Reserves beat Chellaston 6-2, Mackworth St. Francis Reserves won 4-1 against Wirksworth Town Reserves and Punjab United Reserves drew 3-3 in their game with Melbourne Dynamo Reserves.
