Heavy rain and flooding hits Derbyshire

Derbyshire, Chesterfield and Bakewell have suffered flooding problems after a deluge hit the region today, Monday, June 9.

The Met Office has given a yellow warning for heavy rain across the East Midlands including Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Rutland, Leicester and Nottingham for Monday which will be valid throughout the whole day.

Motorists struggled through driving rain which hit Chesterfield about midday as it bounced off the roads and left dangerous surface water.

There have also been reports of flooding difficulties in Bakewell.
