Heage: Christmas spirit sees funds raised

A Santa’s sleigh ride around Heage raised nearly £600 for a leading medical charity.

Over the weekend of 21 and 22 December, the Heage Committee of Action Medical Research organised a Santa Sleigh around Heage, Nether Heage and Upper Marehay.

Liz Allan of the committee said: “We would like to thank all those who helped collect in the rain and wind and all the generous people who filled the tins. A total of £586.48 was collected over the two nights.

“The committee would also like to thank Dave and Angie from the Black Boy in Heage and all their customers who helped raise another £200 from a Christmas Hamper raffle which was held in December.”

Action Medical Research is looking forward to another successful year of fund raising with the major event being the Annual Garden Party on Saturday May 18, 2013, at 57 Ripley Road, Heage. For further information please contact Liz Allan on 01772 824442 or Jean Fardoe on 01773 744135.
