Games organisers reveal final total

Fundraisers have generated £6,000 in support of a terminally-ill Belper woman during an event at the town’s rugby club.

The Belper Games was held in July in support of Penny Wheeler, who has scleroderma and pulmonary fibrosis, which affects her lungs.

The event featured an ‘It’s a Knockout’-style tournament as well as a craft fair with various retailers, face painters and children’s activities.

Now, organisers have totalled up the funds which were amassed during the Games and have thanked those involved. Penny’s treatment costs around £26,000 a year.
