Fire in a bin led to 999 call

Firefighters from Ilkeston were called to reports of a smoke alarm at a house on Ridgeway, Heanor, yesterday.

The flames had started in a bin and were reported to emergency services at 5.30pm.

The crew worked for half-an-hour ventilating the property of smoke using fans as it had become heavily logged.

Firefighters left the scene at 6pm.
