Dolls House Emporium in process of being sold
One of the world’s leading seller of dolls houses and miniatures could be on the way out of Ripley - after bosses decided to sell the company.
London-based internet firm MyHobbyStore, which sells a wide range of specialist hobby equipment from model planes to remote control cars, is in the process of buying the Dolls House Emporium, based on High Holborn Road.
The deal set to be finalised by February 28.
A spokesperson for the Ripley company said today: “Agreement has been reached for MyHobbyStore Retail Ltd to acquire The Dolls House Emporium Brand.
“The Dolls House Emporium is currently undergoing a TUPE (consultation) process with its employees.
“It is expected that the agreement for MyHobbyStore Retail Ltd to acquire The Dolls House Emporium brand will complete on 28th February 2013. Until that time, no announcements will be made.”
The Dolls House Emporium first launched in 1979 and claims to be the world’s leading supplier of dolls’ houses and miniature collectables.
Its head office is based at Ripley, where it has a 65,000 sq ft premises with two retail shops.
More than 60 people are likely to be affected by the move - and the possibility of having to relocate offices or face redundancy, according to a source from within the business.
