Darts players serve up a treat

The Ripley Elite Darts Singles League witnessed one of the best games ever last Wednesday night as on-fire Ash Spencer and Paul Baker had a cracker.

The scoreline of 4-1 was a fair result as Spencer hit three maximums, had a great 120 out and had his second consecutive 30-plus average, staking his claims for a real push for this year’s title.

Baker scored heavily as always but was outclassed, despite his 29.26 average. His winning leg came via a bullseye.

Gary Fenn has started very well and there were also 5-0 wins for Phil Henshaw, Daz Brown, Ian Richardson and Mel Hopkins in a division where everyone thought there wouldn’t be many.

The standard seems to get better each season and at least half the players in the division will have a real chance of lifting the title.

In the REDSL Division One, all the new players have settled in well, especially Daz Gilbert and Rich Palmer, who hit a fantastic 29.47 av in only week two. A fascinating season in both leagues is in prospect.
