Cricketers step out for charity
Alfreton Cricket Club members on their charity walk
A group of Alfreton Cricket Club members put their best foot forward and set out to walk the 55 miles of the Derbyshire Heritage Trail at the weekend, raising over £2,000 in aid of Myeloma UK.
At the end of the two-day walk, they finished the trek on Sunday night at 6pm.
With the first day starting at the picturesque Ladybower reservoir, the walkers forgot about the daunting task that lay ahead of them.
However, as the walk took them on through Baslow, Rowsley and Darley Dale, the magnitude of what was left to come hit them
The first day ended in Cromford Meadows where the ACC members found the nearest pub and had a couple of well-earned beers.
The second day started at Cromford Meadows Cricket club as the group began where they left off at the end of the first day.
With the locations to tick off including Ambergate, Duffield and Belper, the walkers went on their merry way of counting down the miles.
Finally, the end was in sight as the end part to the trail, Shardlow, appeared on the road directions.
With a few miles left there was not one walker who wasn’t feeling the pain but everyone powered through and there was relief when the sign marking the end of the trail was spotted, where the river Derwent met the river Trent.
