Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident.

Nottingham Road had to be shut off from the Sainsbury’s roundabout between 4pm and 8pm while fire crews from Alfreton and Ilkeston used a cherry picker to make the roof safe.

Also last night there were reports of a large tree having blown over on Sleetmoor Lane, Somercotes, which caused drivers to swerve in order to avoid it.

Roadwork signage was left strewn over the A608 in Heanor and trees were uprooted at Wingfield Avenue in Alfreton.
