Charity Swim: Michelle Denyer pictured before she took on the challenge of swimming 100 lengths of the pool at Arc Leisure Matlock to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care Trust.
A NURSE has earned her water wings by completing 100 lengths of a swimming pool.
Michelle Denyer, of Matlock, took part in the 2012 Swimathon at the Arc Leisure Centre, in Matlock.
When she set herself the challenge, the 48-year-old aimed to raise £1,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, however she was overwhelmed with support from friends and family and was able to raise £1,400 in the end.
The Swimathon weekend took place across 649 pools and was a collaboration between Marie Curie Cancer Care and the BBC’s and British Swimming’s Big Splash, and Sport Relief.
Further information is available by visiting www.swimathon.org.
As well as the money raised by Michelle, her daughter Rose Denyer, of The Pink Cake Box, based in Matlock, managed to raise £190 for the charity by raffling off a ruffle cake.
