CCTV stills released after Heanor robbery

A newsagent robber who passed a note to a cashier before stealing a large amount of money is wanted by police.

Detectives investigating a robbery and theft from two premises in Heanor have released images of a man they want to speak to.

The first incident happened at News 4 You, in the Market Place, at about 6.30am today (Monday, February 29).

A man dressed in light brown trousers, a flat cap, black gloves and what appeared to be a tweed jacket, walked into the shop.

He passed a note to the cashier before taking a large amount of money and running off.

At about 12.40pm, a man with the same description walked into Hanson’s Garage, at the junction of Heanor Gate Road and Thorpes Road.

He asked for cigarettes and when the cashier turned around, he leapt over the counter and took money from the till before running off towards Heanor town centre.

Police have issued images of a man they want to speak to and aare asking 'did you see the man pictured in the area throughout the day?'

Anyone who recognises him should call Derbyshire police on 101 immediately, quoting incident 73 of February 29.
