Cat-flap burglaries in Ripley

Burglars sneaked into two Ripley homes via cat-flaps over the weekend

Two laptops and cash was taken from a family home on Bamford Street sometime between midnight and 10am on Sunday.

Police say the occupants were asleep upstairs when suspects reached through the cat-flap on the back door of their home and grabbed the set of keys that were in the door.

The same method was used to enter a home on Dovedale Close in the town between 2am and 4.15am on Sunday morning.

A woman living there alone was woken by her dog barking and when she went downstairs to investigate she noticed the back door cat-flap had been removed and the door unlocked.

However nothing was stolen from the house.

It is not yet known whether the crimes are linked.

If you have any information regarding either incident, call Derbyshire Constabulary on 101.
