Inner Wheel Club of Alfreton
At the meeting of the Inner Wheel Club of Alfreton president Clair Nightingale opened the January meeting, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and a welcome to Alfreton Inner Wheel ‘Friendship Evening’.
Members from Bolsover and West Ashfield Inner Wheel Clubs had been invited to join us.
Members were able to sign a ‘tag’ to hang on the ‘Friendship Tree’.
Pam McConnell, association past president, and a member of the Bolsover Club, was the speaker.
Pam gave a very interesting talk, telling of her progress in Inner Wheel, through to being
Association President. Her year in Office had been a very interesting one, meeting many people including the Duchess of Cornwall at Bath Cathedral, and attending a Buckingham Palace Garden Party. Also she had travelled many miles in Great Britain and Ireland to visit other Inner Wheel districts.
President Clair thanked Pam and presented her with a cheque for her chosen charity ‘Gambia Schools Appeal’.
An enjoyable evening was had by all, with plenty of friendship and fellowship.
Also in January, members enjoyed an ‘Inner Wheel Day’ lunch. On a snowy day members made their way to St.Marys Church Centre at Pilsley, where they ‘nattered’, knitted and cut stamps, for charities, then enjoyed a ‘pie and pea’ lunch.
