A bus ended up blocking two roads in Heanor after skidding into trouble in the snow this afternoon.

The National Express coach ended up across the end of Burnthouse Road where it meets Thorpe’s Road, in the town, blocking both roads as the snow caused havoc for motorists.

Traffic was halted on both roads after the bus got stuck in the slippery conditions.

Elsewhere drivers were forced to crawl along main roads, including through Smalley towards Heanor. Up to three inches of snow fell, starting around 3pm and turning to sleet by 5pm.
