BREAKING NEWS: Derbyshire’s drought status removed

DERBYSHIRE is no longer in drought, after some regions experienced the most rainfall in more than 100 years.

The Environment Agency said persistent downpours during April have significantly increased river and reservoir levels, reducing pressure on the environment and public water supplies

As a result it revoked the county’s drought status but warned groundwater supplies remain low.
