A French connection was forged during a visit to Ripley by a group of people from the Loire valley in France.
Ripley and District Twinning Association welcomed fellow members from Chateau Renault during their Easter visit.
Deputy mayor councillor Roland Emmas-Williamd said: “Next year’s trip to France will mark the 20th anniversary of Ripley’s twin town status with Chateau Renault which has promoted cultural educational and sporting links between the two towns.”
A farewell party for the French visitors was held at Riddings Community Centre where Mayor councillor Alwyn Bridge met with his French counterpart Michel Cosnier. As well as Ripley, Chateau Renault is also twinned with Mülheim-Kärlich in Germany and Covăsânț, in Romania.
