Another good week for anglers

It’s been another good week’s angling at Carsington Fishery with a rod average of 3.24.

Many anglers have fished on a drift from above Half Moon Field down towards the deeper areas on the edge of Fishtail Creek. 55 fish were caught by 17 anglers.

Carsington Fishery is open until November 25 and there will be a reduction in boat prices from Monday, October 29, offering a saving of up to £12.

The heaviest rainbow this week was 2lbs 12oz caught by Stuart on Monday and the heaviest brown was 4lbs caught by Mr Macgregor.

The tops spots this week have been once again on the eastern side of the reservoir to the left of fishtail creek and below Stitch Plantation and Half Moon Bay. Many anglers have fished on a drift from the top of the nature reserve along the eastern back towards Fish tail creek.

The back of watersports island and the edge of the watersports bay have also fished well.

Intermediate lines are generally working the best when allowed to sink well away from the surface level.

The flies are still mainly the usual popular lures for this point in the season – Cats whisker, Hot Head Damsels, Montanna, orange blobs, Minkie and Black & Green lures.

From Monday October 29, boats charges will be £10 for standard petrol boat and £8 for a wheelie boat. This could give you a saving of up to £12 per day!

Fishing will be available from 8.30–4pm each. Half day permits will only be available in the morning from 8.30am–2pm.

Boats can leave the jetty from 8.30am

All boats are back to the jetty by 6.00pm

Please allow a few minutes to return from your fishing spot

Please note that Carsington is a boat fishing water only. It is advisable that boat bookings are made in

advance to avoid disappointment. Discounts are available for bookings of five or more boats.
