Independent retailers in Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley joined with businesses across the country this weekend in celebration of the national retail campaign ‘Independents Day’ on
Friday 4th July.
Independents’ Day is an annual campaign designed to encourage communities across the UK to shop locally to keep the high street alive and thriving.
The Mayor of Amber Valley, Councillor John Walker, visited Alfreton Market to join in its celebrations, where the majority of stall holders offered special offers over the weekend and even provided free refreshments to shoppers.
Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration said: “We are delighted to be able to support the independent shops across the borough and encourage the community to use these brilliant facilities.
“Independents’ Day is just one of a number of initiatives design to support the retail experience and regenerate the town centres.”
