Alfreton Male Voice Choir (AMVC) have performed a string of special Christmas concerts which raised £1,077 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Their joint concert with the Treble Clef Girls Choir raised £650 while a series of Christmas music performances at Ripley Co-operative, Sainsbury’s and at Alfreton’s Tesco store added £427 to the total.
All funds will go towards the BHF’s Mending Broken Hearts appeal, which provides funds for research into pioneering medical treatment for certain types of heart failure.
Peter Worrall, speaking on behalf of the choir, said: “We have performed four times in the two weeks around Christmas and in concerts immediately prior to that.
“We have been glad to have had Mike Churnside - to whom we presented the cheque - and his team from British Heart Foundation, whose work we wholeheartedly support, with us on many of these occasions.
“They have worked alongside us and provided encouragement as we hope we have done for them.”
