Alfreton man named as motorbike collision casualty

Police have revealed the identity of a 27-year-old man who died after his motorcycle collided with a lorry on Tuesday.

Christopher Taylor, of Milton avenue, Alfreton was travelling on the A61 north of Alfreton on a Yamaha motorcycle and when he collided with a heavy goods vehicle.

Emergency services including the air ambulance attended but the rider of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several people have paid their respects to the former Mortimer Wilson School pupil via the social networking site Facebook.

One friend, Martin Weaver, wrote: “R.I.P mate gone but never forgotten sleep tight words can not begin to explain how much you will be miss(ed) by so many people you was a true mate to me will forever miss you.”

Part of the A61 was closed for several hours between Westhouses and Shirland after the collision.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incidentin and are appealing for witnesses to contact PC Paul Moorcroft of the collision investigation unit police 01773 572929.
