Plans to build 47 extra-care flats for the elderly in Heanor are among ten projects that will no longer go ahead after an £83 million contract collapsed.

Not-for-profit care provider Housing 21 said it could not deliver the contract to build 685 flats across Derbyshire due to a lack of funds.

As a result, 17 care homes earmarked for closure will be kept open, including Rawthorne in Swanwick, The Glebe in Alfreton and The Willows in Ripley for now.
