13 jobs will go at Heanor firm
A Heanor factory is to make 13 office staff redundant as it continues to try and cut costs during the economic downturn.
Advanced Composites Ltd on the Heanor Gate Industrial Estate was praised by Conservative leader David Cameron for its recession beating success when he visited the site last month.
However, a decline in orders at the firm, including those from Formula One, has led to staff hours being cut and 13 staff being made redundant.
Chief executive John Mabbitt said: "We have let go four people on temporary contracts and another nine permanent office staff. When we were talking about cutting staff hours, we decided we had to make some redundancies as well.
"We started to tell people at the start of last week and people left by Friday. It all happened very quickly but we wanted to do this swiftly rather than let things drag on."
