Loan scheme launched to spruce up homes

AFFORDABLE loans are being made available to houseproud over-55s courtesy of Amber Valley Borough Council and Spirita Care and Repair.

Homeowners in Ripley and Heanor will now be able to apply to the authority for funding to rennovate and repair their home interior.

A spokesperson for the borough council said: “The scheme offers a stress-free, low risk way to have essential works carried out by helping you access affordable loans and provides support at all stages of the process. Access to an independent financial adviser is also available.”

On Thursday, September 22, project workers from housing association Spirita will be in the Town Hall main reception in Ripley between 10am and 2pm to give advice and information about the scheme. The project workers can also give advice on the company’s other services, including helping to source reliable contractors, oversee repair works and can search for charitable funding options for the over-55s or residents with disabilities.
