Rock star Ryan Fletcher might enjoy playing alongside international superstars across the globe, but he says these experiences only make him realise how lucky he is to be from Chesterfield.

And as his band Lawson are set to release their latest single ‘Money’, the bassist made sure to bring the boys home as part of the launch.

The 26-year-old former Brookfield School pupil formed the band with his Mansfield friend, guitarist Joel Peat, along with singer Andy Brown and drummer Adam Pitts, in 2009.

They have recently come back from a round-the-world tour and during their rise to fame, have supported the likes of Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi and Will Young.

And although Ryan is loving the rock n’ roll lifestyle, he lives at home when he is not on tour and tries to spend as much time there as he can.

He said: “I love Chesterfield loads.

“I think people from Chesterfield are a bit ungrateful to be from here to be honest.

“Once you’ve been away and experienced other places, you realise how good this town is and how lucky we all are.”

And whenever he is out in the town, Ryan says he is always on the lookout for fresh talent on the music scene.

“There’s a lot of great stuff happening in Chesterfield,” he added.

And although he is passionate about his hometown, he does still enjoy playing around the world.

He said: “It’s great to get away from your comfort zone sometimes, you have to do it.”

Since the band made their debut, they have had several top-ten hits, a hit album, and performed at two sell-out shows at Wembley.

So it’s unsurprising that Ryan sometimes needs to come back home to “recharge” in his comfort zone.

The group visited Chesterfield last week as they brace themselves for their next big pop-rock hit, ‘Money’, which lead singer Andy Brown wrote and described as a “banger”.

Andy said: “It’s going to be a big favourite in the live set- we shot the video last week and invited a bunch of our friends and fans down to be in it and they were all singing along after the first listen.”

It is set to be released on Friday, March 18.
