Staff at a Ripley-based housing association will be swapping their business suits for boiler suits and pens for paintbrushes next week in a bid to improve the community.
Futures Homescape Ltd is due to host its first Make A Difference Day on Friday, September 20.
Staff from the organisation will be donating a day of their time to help local community groups and projects, including gardening, painting, land clearance, path laying and reading with pupils in local schools.
In the run up to the event community groups were encouraged to submit their projects for consideration, with a 135 strong team ready to help out the worthy causes.
In total, 26 challenges are due to be undertaken by Futures staff.
Community Development Manager for the organisation Sarah Whattam said: “We already support a number of community groups and projects through a dedicated fund, but the Make a Difference Day will give us an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with the community and make a practical difference to people in Amber Valley.”
The Make A Difference Day will kick off at 9am, when staff will be given tee shirts and a packed lunch to help them on their way.
The organisation, part of Futures Housing Group, is following in the footsteps of fellow group member Daventry and District Housing (DDH), who hosted the event for the first time last year.
