Playing in the Derby Combination Premier League Division 1 are Horsley Woodhouse FC. The picture was taken in January, 1984.

If you recognise any of those pictured, give us a call on 0115 9 446186 or email the line-up to news@rhnews.co.uk, marking it Memory Lane.

We have had lots of calls on pictures we have featured in Memory Lane, including the teddy bears’ picnic line up, which was a Ripley All Saints’ Church Sunday school event. It was taken at the Mount Pleasant vicarage when the vicar was the Rev Roy Wilson, who was pictured along with his wife Audrey.

Our picture was taken in the summer of 1985, said Kath Hutchinson, of Mount Pleasant, who called us and is herself pictured fourth left.

She said: “We had a big Sunday school then. A lot the children pictured will be married with their own children now.”

The picture of the paper recycling bank being opened prompted a call from Annette Horton as she was then, who was on the photo.

Annette, now Annette Turner, was then chairman of Swanwick Parish Council and the picture was in fact taken in the village at Green car park.

She said it was Amber Valley Borough Council that suggested having the paper bank there and the forward thinking parish council jumped at the chance.

She said: My grandson spotted the picture and said, ‘I think this is you in the paper!’.

“I would have been 41 then.”

Our previous week’s picture of darts star John Lowe at a pub opening prompted calls to tell us the pub was being renamed and reopened as the Treble Twenty Inn, which can be seen on the board behind the star. It was previously the Portland Arms.

Get in touch if you can tell us more about this week’s pictures.
