a WOMAN who was thrown from a horse and knocked unconscious was rescued by the air ambulance in Swanwick.

The 29-year-old was thrown to the ground while riding in a training session in a field on the outskirts of the village at around 11.30am on Monday, November 21. She had been briefly knocked unconscious by the fall.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) landed in an adjacent field, which had been cleared of grazing horses. The crew assessed the rider and fitted her with a pelvic splint, before airlifting to Royal Derby Hospital.
