A voluntary group which provides family support for parents to build better lives for their children has scooped a £500 cash boost through a community appeal.
Ripley-based Home-Start Amber Valley, provides one-to-one emotional and practical support to local families as they learn to cope, build better family relationships and improve the lives of their children.
The organisation has been awarded £500 after being voted the winner of the Community Chest initiative by Ripley & Heanor News readers.
The Community Chest scheme invited readers to nominate a worthwhile local cause to receive a cash grant from leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.
Corrine Clemsom, chair of trustees at Home-Start Amber Valley, said: “We are so grateful for this wonderful endoresement of our volunteers. It is great to know that our work is appreciated and recognised.”
Home-Start Amber Valley is a voluntary organisation that supports families where there is at least one child under five who are experiencing difficulties.
Mariana Knight, regional sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey, said: “We are delighted to be donating £500 to the Home-Start Amber Valley scheme through our Community Chest initiative, after the readers of the Ripley and Heanor News voted it as the cause most deserving of this funding.
