Parents of pre-school children are urged to visit the council’s website to find advice on how to make sure their child is ready for school.

Derbyshire County Council’s new page at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/readyforschool lists the ten key skills or attributes that will help ensure a child is ready to learn. It also has links and documents that parents should find interesting and helpful.

Councillor Caitlin Bisknell, Derbyshire County Council’s deputy cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We all want children in Derbyshire to have the best possible start to their school career. Being school-ready means they will be well-placed to settle happily and learn.”
