An ambitious archery champion from Heanor, on course to join team GB to compete in the World Archery Championships in the USA, is being supported by an Ilkeston opticians.
Specsavers, of Bath Street, is backing 12-year-old Hollie Smith by providing her with six months’ worth of contact lenses free of charge.
Store director of the Ilkeston branch of Specsavers, Krishna Parma, said she was delighted that the store could be a part of Hollie’s sporting career by providing her eye care.
She added: “It’s important to us to support local and upcoming talent, especially one as dedicated as Hollie.
“It is really vital that she has the best vision for her sport and we’re happy to help.”
Hollie, who attends Heanor Gate Science College, started her archery career aged seven and has competed for England’s under-18s.
She said: “With glasses the frame often gets in the way, so I’m really grateful to Specsavers for the contact lenses - they’re going to be so helpful in upcoming competitions.”
