A NEW keep-fit dance studio has opened in the grounds of Lumb Farm Country Club, in Marehay.

Owner Sophie Hibbert has spent the last two weeks converting a concrete and plasterboard room into an attractive modern studio with the help of her husband and dad. Sophie, 30, of Swanwick, said: “I have been dancing since the age of seven and running dancing and fitness classes for two years in Swanwick, Ripley and Belper.

“I decided I wanted to have my own place to provide quality classes in a nicer environment.

“We hope to have a space that people can also hire to run their own fitness classes.”

The Studio-Ripley runs hip hop classes for kids aged seven to 15 and has recently introduced a brand new class for pre-schoolers.

Grown-ups can take their pick from salsa, a strictly-fit work-out session, hip hop and street and solo Latin dance classes.

There’s also dance training for weddings and hen nights.
