County signs 600 care home deal

Up to 600 new extra care apartments for older people will be built across the county following the official signing of a contract between Derbyshire County Council and Chevin Housing Association.

The deal gives Chevin the go-ahead to provide elderly care facilities across the county including the redevelopment of Florence
Shipley nursing home in Heanor and already approved plans at Cressy Road, Alfreton, for 52 care apartments and communal facilities.

Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for adult care Cllr Charles Jones said: “It is excellent news that we have now officially signed this legal contract with Chevin Housing.”
