AN elderly woman had a narrow escape on Friday when strong winds blew down a tree that crushed her car.
The incident happened at around 12.15pm at Broadway in Heanor.
The roof of her blue Vauxhall Corsa was destroyed.
The elderly driver, who has not been named, was uninjured but was suffering from shock.
Ambulance crews arrived and gave her oxygen at the scene.
Firefighters from Heanor helped Amber Valley Borough Council workers remove the tree from the car.
l A motorbike rider was blown off his bike in the strong winds while travelling along the A610 on Sunday night.
The 19-year-old rider was blown off the Skyjet 125cc bike he was riding near Langley Mill at 11.25pm and taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre hospital where he was treated for injuries to his leg and thumb.
