Happy couple Rex and Selina Taylor say their marriage is better than ever – even after 60 years.
The couple of Kedleston Close in Ripley, today mark their diamond wedding anniversary. Rex, 83, said the secret to a long and happy marriage was: “Tell her you love her every day, but other than that keep your mouth closed!”
The couple met on a crowded bus in December 1955, when Rex got up to give Selina, 80, his seat. The pair then had another chance meeting at a dance hall and from there arranged their first date on Friday, January 13.
Rex said: “It certainly wasn’t unlucky for us. We had a lovely date and from then on I saw her every day.” Rex proposed in March and the couple were married the following year. They went on to have five children, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
