A Heanor teen waved goodbye to her long black hair all in aid of a good cause.

Heanor Gate Science College pupil Alisha Jones, 15, shaved off all her hair in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care and hopes to raise more than £600 for her efforts.

She said: “It was a bit awkward at first, I’ve never had no hair before!” Alisha says she was partly inspired to carry out the charitable act by pop star Jessie J, who shaved her hair for this year’s Comic Relief. “I just thought I wanted to do something to raise more money,” Alisha said.

Alisha says she has already raised £250 through sponsorship from friends and family.
