BELPER folk got the chance to try out energy-saving devices at a special showcase in the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, March 10.

Local environmental group Transition Belper arranged for Marches Energy Agency to bring their ‘Fantastic Home’ exhibition and helped the MEA experts hand out free energy and water saving devices, and gave advice on insulating homes and potential renewable energy technologies.

The group was promoting the Warmstreets Insulation scheme, which encourages home-owners to take full advantage of the offers available to get their loft or cavity walls insulated while they can – these schemes will come to an end later this year. It’s one of seven projects the Transition Belper energy group are currently running, funded by a Department of Energy and Climate Change grant, more details can be found at www.transitionbelper.org .
