HAY fever sufferers are being urged to seek advice from their pharmacist or GP early on in the hay fever season to avoid pollen misery during the summer months.

The airborne allergy, which affects one in four people in the UK, has a significant impact on people’s lives and their performance at work or at school, causing itchy, red and watery eyes, blocked and runny nose, itchy throat and difficulty sleeping.

Dr Markus Henn, GP principal at Littlewick Medical Centre, said: “Hay fever may seem like a trivial problem, but studies show it can have a very negative on sufferers’ lives – forcing them to stay indoors but there are easily available treatments which are effective and control the unpleasant effects of hay fever as well as improve asthma control.”
