Getting ready for Remembrance Day

A remembrance parade will leave the Ripley Co-op car park at 10.20am promptly on Sunday, November 10.

It will march along Derby Road, the High Street and Church Street to Ripley All Saints Church for the service of Remembrance.

Afterwards the parade will march back of the Old Town Hall and on to the Market Place for the dismissal.

Anyone wishing to lay a wreath at the cenotaph shoud email or call 01773 832211.

There is a rehearsal for standard bearers in All Saints Church on Friday, November 9, at 7pm.

In Alfreton, the parade from Alfreton House along High Street to the War Memorial on King Street leaves Rodgers Lane Car Park by 10.15am.

A wreath will be laid followed by prayers, the Last Post, signalling the beginning of the two minutes silence and the start of the ceremony at 11am. Following the ceremony, the procession will parade to St Martin’s Church on Church Street for a service will be conducted by the Reverend Frank Mercurio.

There will be a separate wreath laying at the Methodist War Memorial in Alfreton Cemetery, earlier on Remembrance Day.

In Heanor, there will be a parade from the Market Place to the park at 10.15am for the laying of wreath at the war memorial. St James’ Church, Codnor will hold a service at 10am followed by an act of remembrance at the lych gate at 10.50am.
