Firefighters have busy weekend across Derbyshire

Firefighters have been busy attending a number of incidents across Derbyshire this weekend.

Here’s a short breakdown of incidents reported to Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

Alfreton Red extinguished a lawn mower on fire using buckets of water.

Staveley Red attended hedgerow on fire located off Breck Lane in Eckington, fire extinguished using water backs and beaters.

Clowne retained firefighters assisted by a fire crew from Worksop attended a kiln fire in Whitwell. Fire was out on arrival, inspection carried out.

Buxton Red, Buxton retained firefighters, Wirksworth retained, Bradwell retained, Glossop Red and Macclesfield crew attended moorland fire near Derbyshire Bridge, Buxton.

Belper retained and Kingsway Red attended an oven fire in a house on Alder Rd in Belper. The fire was out on arrival and firefighters made safe and gave advice.

Ripley retained and Alfreton retained attended a report of car fire on A38 northbound between Ripley/Alfreton. It was a false alarm caused by overheated engine.

Ilkeston Red attended a fire involving a bird hide and decking at the nature reserve in Shipley Park in Ilkeston. Park ranger also attended.

Matlock Red firefighters dealt with a fire on open ground in woodland on High Torr Road, Matlock.

Matlock Red extinguished a fire in some compost in the rear of a lorry on Darley Bridge, Matlock.

Duffield retained, Notts Road White and Kingsway White attendended road traffic collision involving one car into rear of a tanker on the A38 Little Eaton Island. Derbyshire police and EMAS also attended. A38 closed southbound between A61 and A6 in Little Eaton.
