Alfreton fire crew had a busy day on Thursday, when it was called out to five separate incidents.
Shortly before 1pm firefighters helped rescue a foal that had become stuck in a 6ft manhole cover on Berristow Lane, South Normanton.
It took the crew an hour to rescue the stranded one-week-old animal using lifting equipment.
Then shortly before 3pm the Alfreton firefighters were called to a 200 sq metre patch of grassland on fire at Birchwood Road in the town.
At 7pm the team dealt with a rubbish fire at woodlands off Church Street, in Alfreton, and half-an-hour later were called to Vulcan tanks on Cotes Park Industrial Estate, Somercotes, where there was a fire outside.
Finally, at 11pm, the crew dealt with a small fire at Cockshut Lane, Somercotes.
