A Heanor couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a party at Heanor Labour Club.
Michael and Janet Seviour, of Fletcher Street, were married at Heanor Parish Church on April 4, 1964.
Michael, 74, and Janet, 70, met at the Top Hat dance hall on Corporation Road where Michael was a compere and a singer. Michael worked at Stanton Ironworks for ten years and was then a conductor on Trent buses. Janet was a textile worker for Haddon Textiles in Ripley, before starting a family. They have daughter Dawn, 47, and son Neil, 42; grandchildren Liam 23, Emily-Mae, 19, Charlotte, 16, and Jessica, 12. Janet enjoys gardening and crocheting. Michael enjoys working with wood and his windmills are visible all over Heanor.
Janet said: “You have to be there for each other. We have been through thick and thin. When we were younger we struggled - but we are still here to tell the tale!”
