A Somercotes fanily have launched a heart-felt plea for the return of their beloved pet dog.

The seven-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Spirit went missing from the Buckley family’s home on Market Place, Somercotes, on Sunday, December 9, at 6pm.

Tanya Buckley said: “We are absolutely devastated and cannot rest until he is found. I have a four-year-old little girl Mia who is missing him dearly. She has grown up with him and is used to falling to sleep next to him most nights. My son, Ben, 23, is absolutely devoted to him and is on the go day and night to find him. Spirit is used to living in a loving, very close knit family home.

“We feel that someone must know something about his whereabouts, as there have been no reports of a stray dog wandering. We have reported him missing to all of our local vets, dog wardens and police but have had no joy yet in

tracing him.”

Tanya added that the local businesses, schools and churches are doing everything they possibly can to help, including sharing photos of Spirit on social networking sites, displaying posters and handing out flyers.

She said: “He is very well known by the local community.”

A facebook page has been set up named Please Help Get Spirit Home.

Spirit is very distinctive as he only has half a right ear. He is grey, with a white chest and two white paws.
