It’s positive news for job hunters after Amber Valley MP Nigel Mills confirmed he is to hold his third Amber Valley Jobs Fair.

Last year’s event saw over 1,000 constituents attend the fair, with over two-hundred finding work or training opportunities as a direct result.

The fair is taking place on Friday, February 27, at Ripley Leisure Centre, between 10am and 4pm.

The event is free of to attend for both job hunters and businesses – but constituents don’t need to register to attend.

The Jobs Fair will play host to a range of local employers including: the Manthorpe Group; Owen Taylor & Son; BPI Recycled Products; Birchwood Homecaring Services; Essential Recruitment; Armed Forces; UPS; McDonalds; Places for People Leisure; Leonard Cheshire Disability; GI Group; Futures Housing Group; Carewatch; and many more.

It will also host representation from education, training and apprenticeships providers including the National Careers Service, EMA Training, A4e, Being Your Own Boss and QA Associates.

Seminars run between 12pm and 4pm, offering advice on creating a CV, job application, money management advice, becoming self-employed and overcoming interview objections.

Nigel Mills MP said: “Getting unemployment down in Amber Valley was a promise I made to my constituents.

“I’ve worked hard to do this and I’m pleased to say that the claimant count is down from 4.9 per cent at the time I was elected to 1.9 per cent now. That means it’s more than halved – but there’s more to do, which is why I’m doing this again.”

He added: There will be great opportunities for part-time and full-time vacancies, along with training and apprenticeships, so I’d encourage all constituents looking for opportunities to come along.”
